Lighting design for an award-winning wedding venue
We’re delighted to have been selected to design the lighting for the 5-star AA rated wedding venue Manor House, Lindley, a Grade II listed Georgian manor house.
the lighting is immensely important in such a venue. It enabled us to create a feeling of romance and magic, alongside architectural light fittings highlighting the beautiful features and exquisite finishes throughout the Coach House venue.
A Lutron HomeWorks control system has been used across the Coach House, making it easy to create a certain feel within the spaces either separately or as one large space, using just the touch of a button. This is so important when you’re going from ceremony to party in the same day!
Flexible lighting for a large multi-functional space
The Coach House wedding venue is a very large, multi-functional space. It has three sections which needed to work both independently and together. Uses range from weddings to parties to conferences, so the lighting had to be very flexible to cope with all these needs.
It also had to provide a lot of ‘wow’ factor: the space itself is enormous, and the lighting needed to provide both ‘obvious wow’ using the right chandeliers for the spaces, and ‘can’t quite work out why, but it looks amazing wow’ with the architectural lighting.
Chandeliers perfect for the occasion
These chandeliers are spectacular and perfect for a wedding venue, bringing something rather special and intimate to a large area can be tricky but these worked very well.
Just as important are the quality architectural fittings highlighting the hand painted walls and immaculate table settings, the whole scene is simply beautiful.
Creating the perfect mix of practical and decorative lighting
As this area would be the first thing that you see we wanted to use really interesting chandeliers and design them in such a way that they almost lead you organically through the space. Creating the perfect setting for a bride or groom to enter the ceremony!
It was important to create a focal point within the Ceremony Room as this is the main Entrance, the lighting takes your eye through to the beautifully dressed screen. The colour of the light and its colour rendering makes an enormous impact on the feel of the space by how accurately it portrays the material and colours giving a warm, welcoming feeling.
Art Deco inspired bar with a completely different feel to the other rooms
The design of the Bar was very different to the Wedding Room, creating a moody, art deco interior, but still a multifunctional area to maximise use. The decorative pieces were really important in pulling all of the interior elements together. The central chandelier was designed as a bespoke piece by us and really does finish off the scheme beautifully.
The room is very dark, so it was important to use architectural fittings that were both inconspicuous and punchy, black surface mounted fittings were perfect for the dark walls
Lighting offers a warm welcome
The outside space of a venue is just as important as the inside not just from an access point of view ‘is there enough light?’ but also for first impressions. As well as weddings this venue is used for parties and in those darker winter months this will be your first view of the venue. Uplights have been used to highlight the stone wall to create a warm and welcoming feel.
