I’m looking at controllers for my addressable light strip and I’m new at this. But is the controller and the app used to control the lights through wifi separate entities that are integrated or does the controller I get determine the app that is used to actually control the thing?

I’m afraid we don’t supply addressable light strips so we’re probably not the best people to answer this. From the research I’ve done, most addressable light strips have a controller and an associated app.  That app might also be supplemented with additional control methods such as Alexa or Google Assistant.  I think you should probably talk to the manufacturers/suppliers of your particular addressable light strip to get specific instructions for your kit.  I’m sorry we can’t help with this but good luck with it, it sounds fun.
