In the living-dining space, we complemented this with linear point source uplighting. Rather than individual beams, this method creates a smoother, continuous wash across the wall. The effect is softer and more architectural, highlighting the texture in a balanced way. Where singular point sources introduce drama and definition, the linear application delivers cohesion and warmth, enhancing the natural tones of the stone. We intentionally make these choices to accentuate the different ceiling heights, bringing them together through their shared texture and harmonious lighting design.
The double-height wall presented an opportunity to emphasise scale. Here, we specified midpoint up-and-down lighting to cast illumination in both directions, elongating the space. This technique accentuates the vertical proportions while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere - a layered approach that keeps the barn generous yet homely.
Decorative lighting was carefully chosen to complement the interior scheme, adding personality and refinement. As is often the case, these statement fittings were not intended to provide the primary light levels. To ensure the space functioned beautifully day to day, we paired them with discreet wall washing, achieving practical illumination while preserving the integrity of the design.
