Lighting tailored to the simple interior
The boathouse has been lovingly restored with a beautifully simple, eclectic Scandi style interior. It's a great entertaining space with a large timber deck jutting out over the lake.
The lighting is tailored to the space and interior design with a mixture of strategically placed surface mounted downlights lighting the seating areas, beds and deck, decorative fittings picked out by our clients and linear LED adding subtle washes to the kitchen and bathroom areas. Surface mounted reading lights echo the interior style.
We used a very small scale Lutron lighting control system to give intuitive control of the multi-functional space. Simple keypads create easy to use scenes, whether it’s the family or guests using the boathouse. The Lutron lighting control system has the added benefit of being able to turn the lights on in the wet dock and jetty from your phone, on your way back from evening trips to the pub in the boat.
The quality of the light is critical
With the all white interior, the quality of the light is a vital part of the mix. A cold light with poor colour rendering would make the space feel clinical, grey and unwelcoming. Instead, the high quality, warm, rich light creates a wonderfully soft warm feel. It's a lovely space set off with beautiful lighting, inside and out.
