A unique luxury country house.
The Silos is a genuinely unique development; a luxury country house developed around a large barn and an array of agricultural silos. We've been working with the developer and interior designer for a couple of years to create a scheme that does justice to the extraordinary architecture, specification and interior detailing.
The lighting is built up in layers; subtle accent lighting with a strong architectural lighting layer delivering the bulk of the working light for the space. Statement decorative pieces have been carefully chosen or designed to match the scale and style of the rooms.
The scale of the spaces presents a particular problem for window treatments. The dining room has no solid wall at all; it's a super circular dining space looking out onto the garden which is great and challenging in equal measure. We designed a solution using Lutron's electric curtain tracks, it works beautifully.
The house is beautifully finished with sumptuous colours and materials. Using light fittings with the very best colour rendering characteristics is a critical feature of the lighting design. Large decorative fittings combine with discreet architectural fittings integrated into joinery and cabinetry. Custom linear fittings allow us to light the curved walls with unobtrusive washes that accent the super joinery work.
There's obviously a lot of glass. It's remarkable just how light it is inside The Silos. We designed and installed circular electric curtain tracks powered by Lutron for the living room and dining room. They look great and add a final touch of sophistication to the space.
We worked with a number of partners on this project. The overall creative vision for the interior comes from Olivia at ODD Design, the build by Rockingham Developments was done to the highest standard.
We worked closely with Peter Thomspon of York to integrate lighting into the joinery and cabinetry. We're delighted to work alongside Bisca again; they make the most wonderful staircases. Mark from Bramhall Blenkharn Leonard was the architect on the project; we've worked with Mark on a number of projects.
